Mac vs. PC

August 6, 2011 No Comments

Apple fans are vehemently against everything about Windows and Microsoft fans are perplexed and confused with everything related to Apple.

But the comic online, forums, personifies the ongoing war of words between the two sides, and nailed to a single point.

“And when you do everything via the browser now, we’re pretty inseparable.”

Well, somebody had to say.

I have two machines – has recently updated the PC upstairs in my office, a computer tower, two monitors, Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

And my recent purchase of new MacBook Air did not go without much questioning my sanity.

Entering the Mac vs. PC debate is meaningless, and frankly would be endless and go to infinity. I never stop comparing the two operating systems, hardware, they both have the power or social status, many strive to achieve.

But I look at the two machines running – my MacBook Air to bottom, made before me as I write this – and discover the beauty of inequalities, the two are identical in everything but what they do.

I’m running Chrome on both machines – Windows and Mac OS X Lion – the only reason that it works consistently and well on both operating systems. I have Office 2010 on top and Office 2011 on my Mac. I also have Skype, iTunes, Windows Live Messenger and Messenger: mac works on both.

Besides that, just run something else.

Appreciate not everyone has the luxury of running what appear to be quite a simple life technology. But when both provides a shortcut icon on the desktop, no matter what is on the periphery?

From the Start menu or the Dock, the title bar of the window, or the persistent profile – not even to focus on, when you scroll in any case.

But while my mail is hosted cloud, accessible via my BlackBerry, iPod touch, a Mac or PC – or Outlook on two computers or through the web browser again to both. My Skype conversations and instant messaging contacts are available on both computers, like my Dropbox synchronizes documents.

Again, this use is to restore the operating system agnostic. I am, and probably you too much money.

But so many people are stuck in their ways and honestly afraid to go anywhere, let alone learn a new environment, they stay with what they know best and deviates just outside their worlds small cave.

I took a leap and feel much better for it. No matter what device they use, now I know that both platforms, Windows and Mac OS X. Of course, I am stronger than Windows because I used more. But I am, quite quickly, to be honest, there with the peculiarities and differences between Mac OS X.

But it is all waffle. It comes down to one point.

My world is a browser. Worlds are so many people in your browser. E-mail, games, productivity, office documents – even the browser itself.

To survive in this new world and evolving, not only do not need to run applications on all platforms available – at least for Windows and Mac platforms – the branch network.
