Is Blackberry becoming outdated?

July 6, 2011 No Comments

The BlackBerry – once the reigning champion among the elite professionals and enterprisers – is now considered as obsolete in the wake of iPhone and other high-end touchscreen devices. Once a must-have accessory is rapidly losing trust among the business people, sources cited.

Android and Apple are casting a shadow on the first handheld email device. Since the beginning of first quarter RIM is experiencing a slowdown leading to a lower-than-expected outlook in the second quarter.

In addition, the delay in introduction of new products is responsible for company’s failure to compete with the new generation of touchscreen smartphones.

The BlackBerry originally was designed for the business users, claiming its ease of integration with existing in-house corporate computer systems. The phone, specifically, was aimed at IT departments, considering that they excelled early on at security and corporate integration.

However, later on individual consumers got fascinated with its tactile keyboard.

But now, employees have been pestering companies to let them use their iPhones and Androids or other smartphones for business, rather than a company-issued BlackBerry. The BlackBerry, limited app store is also reason why employees are shifting their loyalties to other gadgets.

So, will continuous drop in Blackberry’s share lead to the demise of this corporate gadget?
